Welcome to Seva's kids' page!
Seva helps people who are blind or who have eye problems.
There are millions of blind people in the world, but most could see again if they could visit an eye doctor.
Lots of children and adults are blind because they are poor and it is hard for them to get to medical help.
On this page there are stories, games and information about how you can help Seva help people see again.
Thank you for being a Caring Kid and visiting this page.
Here is the story of one blind child. Her name is Datso and she is blind from cataracts. Cataracts cause the lenses in your eyes go cloudy; it is like looking through wax paper. Try it sometime -- hold some wax paper up to your eyes and see what you can see.
DATSO, AGE 12, TIBET
Datso before her eye care After
Datso is not like other 12 year olds. She is sad most of the time because she is blind. She has cataracts in both eyes. Her uncle said, “When other kids are playing outside, Datso just cries and cries. She keeps asking us why she is different and why she has to be blind.” Datso’s life as a blind girl has been hard and lonely. She said, “I am blind and don’t deserve any friends. I can't do anything but sit at home with my grandparents all the time. Nobody wants to play with me."
You can bring smiles to each of the faces below. Click on the photos to see how happy they are when they can see again.

DREW
"My name is Drew. I am 10 years old ...
To raise money for Seva I collect bottles and cans, then cash them in for money. Since I started I have raised over $2050. This money has saved 16 people's eye sight and trained 2 doctors to do cataract surgery. Helping Seva has given me good self-esteem. I feel really confident that even though I am a small person I can make a difference. I encourage you to help Seva with me and you can make a difference too."
Drew, then age 10
We'll share more stories of how students and youth can make a difference and give the gift of sight.
Our thanks to Ms. Anh Tang and the Grade 4/5 students of Pauline Haarer School in Nanaimo for their generous donation of $200 to Seva's sight programs. Inspired by their teacher's eye surgery, the students organized three potluck lunches and raised enough money to restore sight to at least 4 people through cataract surgery.
