Gifts for Nepal

Nepal is one of the poorest countries in the world, but thanks to Seva donors’ support it is the model for eye care programs in the entire region. Seva has worked in Nepal for over 27 years and has established the Lumbini Eye Institute, the first rural eye hospital that is fully sustainable from affordable patient fees.Yet there is still much to be done, especially in the remote hill districts where eye care is virtually non-existent.

Our partner, Aravind Eye Care System, is now the largest and most productive eye care facility in the world. Last year, Aravind treated over 2.4 million patients and performed over 280,000 sight-restoring surgeries. Fees from the one-third of patients who can afford to pay subsidize services for the other two-thirds of patients who are served free of charge.
