A letter from Ahmed at Nourseen Foundation, Seva's partners in Egypt about the 2015 Champalimaud Vision Award.

Dear esteemed colleagues at SEVA Foundation, Seva Canada and KCCO,

It is really a wonderful news, although we are quite happy to hear that, we are not surprised at all given that it comes after a very long history of prevention of blindness either globally or with a special focus on Africa, Asia and the developing countries.

As a matter of fact, to those who are engaged in the field, your pioneer group was always the major source of knowledge and innovation. Your support to several countries and groups was always highly recognized, and for those who went through the academic field, your landmark publications and provided models were always the guiding flag for many of junior and senior researchers.

One more thing that I should add here, and I guess that those who worked closely with you would really touch and understand, is that science and experience were merged with outstanding personal characteristics, so, one can touch and learn from you how to be a human being as well as how to be a scientist.

I am so proud to be one of your students and I should admit that I was always striving towards following your steps in life and science.

I am so proud to be one of your students and I should admit that I was always striving towards following your steps in life and science.

Your recent visit to Nourseen Foundation has really reflected the unlimited level of support in which you sacrifice your time and efforts, given your overwhelming responsibilities, to help others and strengthen their capacity.

Thank you very much for all what you have provided to the world and we are always looking anxiously forward to hearing from you, and to learn more and more.

Yours faithfully,

Ahmed
