Video slideshow of eye care in Tanzania: Photos by David de Wit Background: Seva Canada works in Tanzania and 8 other countries in eastern Africa to restore sight and prevent blindness. This slideshow with images by Dutch photographer David de Wit shows a range of sight programs including low vision programs at blind schools, village screening camps and visual acuity testing. The rate of albinism in Tanzania is very high. Since albinism affects vision, many children with albinism attend blind schools where, with low vision devices to help them see, they are able to get an education and reach their full potential.
