  • Baba Ram Dass, spiritual guru and LSD proponent, dies at 88

    Baba Ram Dass, Seva Co-founder and the 1960's counterculture spiritual leader who experimented with LSD and travelled to India to find enlightenment, returning to share it with Americans, has died. He was 88. Dass’ foundation, Love Serve Remember, announced late Sunday that the author and spiritual leader died peacefully at his home earlier in the day. No cause of death was given.

  • Would Glaucoma & Cataracts Stop Bir Bhan?

    Now 72 years old, Bir Bhan was the only person helping his daughter-in-law work in the fields and care for the cattle. Unfortunately, Bir Bhan’s vision began to fail and he was forced to loan his land to his neighbour for a 50% share. He could no longer recognize his cattle and could barely manage walking alone. Would glaucoma and cataracts take away Bir Bhan's ability to help his family and be independent?

  • Did it Deliver? My Experience at the Women Deliver Conference

    From June 3-6, I participated in the Women Deliver 2019 conference in Vancouver, Canada, a long way from my home in Tanzania. Women Deliver is the world’s largest conference on gender equality and the health, rights and wellbeing of girls and women. Over 8000 people from 165 countries attended and since it was my first time at the global conference, I was eager to learn from the many gender-equality pioneers and advocates.

  • The Element of Soul in Seva Canada's Motown Meltdown

    Seva Canada’s annual Motown Meltdown was held on April 27, 2019 in Vancouver. Motown Meltdown spans sixteen years of singing and dancing. It brings together the contributions of sponsors, and offerings of time and talent from performers and volunteers, attesting to the power of local community in gathering for a global cause: the prevention of treatable forms of blindness and the restoration of sight in developing countries.
