At Seva, we believe that everyone has the right to sight. Founded in 1982, our mission is to restore sight and prevent blindness in low- and middle-income countries. Through our unique partnerships, Seva works to establish locally managed eye care programs that will continue to serve people and communities long after Seva’s involvement is complete.

With decades of experience working in some of the world’s poorest regions, we know that restoring a person’s sight and preventing blindness can relieve suffering, reduce poverty and transform lives. Pronounced “say-va”, Seva is a Sanskrit word for service.

Our vision is a world in which no one is needlessly blind or visually impaired.

Our History

For more than three decades, Seva has been fighting blindness and restoring sight around the world. It all began with the eradication of smallpox and a commitment to alleviating human suffering.
