My name is Mwanaidi and I want to tell you what your kindness means to someone like me.

For two years, I lived in darkness in my home in Tanzania. I couldn’t see my grandchildren’s faces. I couldn’t make cassava flour to support my family. I couldn’t even cook without pain from the smoke.

My son had to leave college to help support the family. My young grandchildren had to help guide me when they should have been in school. I went from caring for everyone to needing care myself.

The cataract surgery that restored my sight took less than 15 minutes. But it gave me back my entire life.

Now I can work again. My son can return to his studies. My grandchildren can go back to school.
