Right now, a generous donor is matching every gift to Seva Canada’s Madagascar eye care programs, dollar for dollar.
That means your gift today will go twice as far to help children and adults who are waiting for care.
This match is available through May 22, 2026.
A $50 donation turns into $100!
A seven-year-old’s world came into focus
Lorenzo had trouble seeing things in the distance. At school, he struggled to read the board. When playing soccer with friends, he could not see where the ball was.
His parents knew something wasn’t right.
After hearing from a community member about the eye care services at the Seva Canada-supported eye hospital in Antsirabe, they brought Lorenzo in for an exam.
The diagnosis was simple: Lorenzo needed glasses.
When he put them on, his face lit up.
Today, Lorenzo is back home with clear vision and renewed confidence. He is playing freely with his friends, thriving at school, and seeing airplanes in the sky. He can recognize his grandmother from far away — without help from his parents! Now, with his sight restored, stability is returning.
Her independence was her pride.
Then her vision began to blur. At first, she did not understand what was happening. Day by day, the light dimmed. By early 2025, Delphine was completely blind.
She could no longer see her food. She could not count her money. She could not recognize the faces of her children or the smiles of her grandchildren.
The woman who had always cared for everyone else now depended on them for everything.
When her brother saw her suffering, he contacted the team at the Seva Canada-supported eye hospital in Antsirabe. An outreach worker came to her village and examined her. The diagnosis: Cataracts. Treatable. Curable.
Delphine and her daughter travelled two hours by bus to the hospital. When the bandages were removed after surgery, Delphine opened her eyes.
And she could see!
She saw light. She saw faces. She saw her family again.
Today, Delphine is back home with clear vision. She has returned to her daily work and once again sells produce at the market. She can move freely, work proudly, and live independently.
$50 becomes $100 and can help 2 adults like Delphine receive sight-restoring cataract surgery, including a lens implant and transportation to and from the hospital.
Since 1982, Seva donors have given the power of sight to more than 5 million people through life-changing surgeries and provided eye care services to millions more.
Charity Intelligence named Seva Canada one of the Top 100 Highest Rated Charities in 2024, for the eighth consecutive year.
