Love Your Eyes This World Sight Day!
Join communities around the world on October 8, 2026, as we celebrate World Sight Day, an annual global event led by the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB). This year’s #LoveYourEyes campaign is a reminder that good vision is essential to learning, working, connecting with others, and enjoying everyday life. By raising awareness and encouraging regular eye care, we can help ensure more people have access to the services they need to protect their sight.
Nearly everyone will experience an eye health issue at some point in their lifetime, yet more than one billion people still live with vision loss that could be prevented or treated. Together, we can help change that—one eye exam, one conversation, and one action at a time.
You Can Get Involved By:
- Booking an eye exam for yourself and your family and encouraging friends and co-workers to do the same
- Share eye health tips and your commitment to healthy vision on social media using #WorldSightDay and #LoveYourEyes.
- Get the kids involved! Download free World Sight Day activities like colouring pages and word scrambles at the bottom of this page!
Easy Ways to Love Your Eyes Every Day:
- Protect your eyes by wearing UV-protective sunglasses outdoors and safety eyewear when needed.
- If you notice changes in your vision, don’t wait; schedule an eye exam with your optometrist.
- Take a break from screens! Practice the 20-20-20 rule to reduce eye strain from screens. Every 20 minutes, look at something 20 feet away for 20 seconds. This lets the muscles inside your eyes relax.
If you notice changes in your vision, don’t wait—schedule an eye exam with your optometrist!
