In 2008, Nick and Max Lindley-Peart’s parents, Danny Peart and Dr. Janette Lindley, stood on the roof of Africa. They had just summited Mount Kilimanjaro to raise funds for the Kilimanjaro Centre for Community Ophthalmology (KCCO) in Moshi, Tanzania, a Seva Canada partner dedicated to restoring sight to people who might otherwise never receive care.
Danny Peart (January 1955 – March 2025) carried that mountain with him for the rest of his life. This August, Nick and Max are following in his footsteps.
Retracing the Route
From August 1st to 6th, the brothers will climb the Rongai Route to Uhuru Peak — at 5,895 metres, the highest point in Africa — in honour of their Dad. It’s the same mountain their parents climbed nearly two decades ago, and they’re taking it on for the same reason: because sight is something too many people in Tanzania still don’t have access to, and because KCCO has spent 25 years changing that.
Why It Matters
Every dollar raised through their climb goes directly toward funding KCCO’s sight-restoring programs in Tanzania. That work is part of something bigger: Seva Canada’s vision of a world where no one is needlessly blind or visually impaired. Cataracts and other treatable conditions shouldn’t stand between anyone and the ability to see their own life clearly.
Right now, the impact can go even further. A generous anonymous donor has pledged to match the first $15,000 raised, dollar for dollar — doubling every early contribution.
