Ork Lay, a 70-year-old widow, lives in Sleng Village, Cambodia. Her daughter and son-in-law left their two children in her care so they could go to Thailand in search of work. Unfortunately, over the last three years, Ork Lay’s vision deteriorated making it hard for her to take care of herself and her grandchildren.
Eventually she became blind and her daughter returned to care for her and her children. Ork Lay felt like a terrible burden and worried about her daughter who could no longer earn an income to support the family.
When Ork Lay’s bandage was removed, a big smile spread across her face.
“I’m confident that now I can take care of myself and my grandchildren and my daughter will be able to return to work. It is such a great relief, I never thought I would be able to see this world again. Thank you to everyone who gave me back my sight!”
